About The Memoir Writer

I am Leslie Mendelson Morris, a researcher and writer of memoirs and the person who always seems to engage with whoever is seated next to her on the plane.

Storytelling and curiosity are my superpowers. I started The Memoir Writer to help people document and share their story with the people they love.

I've told stories since I could first hold a pencil. The Orinda Gazette, a two-sided flyer I created at Sleepy Hollow Elementary School, was my first foray into publishing. During college, I was a feature writer for the University of Wisconsin Badger Herald newspaper, daily circulation 45,000. Later, I helped high school students find their voice in their personal statements for college applications. Over the last 25 years I’ve been in corporate America, speechwriting and authoring thought-leadership content for senior executives.

My experience has been built on a childhood spent in three states (including Alaska!) and indulging in travels across four continents. What stays with me, in this chapter of my own story, is a broad perspective and the ability to relate to others’ life experiences.

My writing happens in Danville, California, where my husband and I raised three now-adult daughters. In my free time I read, quilt, travel, downhill ski, and volunteer in support of human rights.
